LDP gave me a start in the area of work that I had wanted to
be in for about 9 years. All the Medeba staff affirmed me so much
in being involved in Christian camping. The mentorship aspect was
very important for me, helping me to gain new insight in my walk with
Christ that I still reflect on today.
Geoff Gould (LDP 1994-1995) gould@youthkzn.co.za
*Geoff and Sarah currently are involved in adventure ministry in South
Africa.
God challenged me in ways that forced me to step outside of
myself, whether in preparing and leading groups, working out a crux
move in rock climbing, or having confidence in myself. LDP gave me
the opportunity to learn dependency - in Him and others; about fellowship
and our call to share life with others; about integrity and our call
to be Christ-like people of compelling mission; and about striving
toward our dreams and desires to be more than we thought we could
ever be.
Marissa Solis (LDP 1997-1998) misolis@aol.com
*Marissa is now working with a high adventure organization called
Upward Enterprises in Maryland, USA.
For me, LDP was a year of being very intentional about being
challenged to know myself; my strengths and weaknesses; and to have
opportunities to develop. There are a number of experiences I still
find myself learning from several years later; as well as some memories
that never fail to make me laugh. Some of the habits and growth I
experienced due to LDP have become very much a part of my life now.
Overall I am confident that my year in LDP at Medeba was a part of
God developing me to better know and serve him with my life.
Chris Wignall (LDP 95-96) fvyouth@look.ca
*Chris is currently working as the Youth Pastor at Forestview: A Church
without Walls, in Burlington, Ontario
For me LDP meant a year of self-discovery and a unique environment
that allowed me to step out of my comfort zones. Most importantly
I realized a new depth and breadth of my relationship with God, together
with new insights into Bible study and the spiritual disciplines.
Now that God has called me to be a wife and mother, LDP for me is
not just fond memories, but principles and a new paradigm of thinking
that brings a richness into my everyday life.
