Volunteers and Parent Staff

Volunteers are an essential part of Medeba's success and we value their desire and willingness to serve. During Summer Camp we offer two options: our Parent Staff program and Volunteer program. These positions are filled based on our weekly staffing needs. 

 

Volunteers

We accept individuals 17 years old and older who have past association with Medeba. A one week commitment is required, along with flexibility and willingness to work where needed.

 

Parent Staff

For parents or grandparents who work for a week at Medeba during the summer, we provide a credit towards your child's/grandchild's day camp/residential program fee. This will be a taxable benefit. Please contact our Assistant Summer Camp Director for further details.

 

We are able to accommodate parent staff for alternate weeks than their child attends, but due to lack of extra staff accommodation and child care resources, all children accompanying parent staff must be enrolled in the residential camp program.

 

Volunteer/Parent Staff Positions Available

Each parent staff position is based on a 9 hour work day. The volunteer commitment commences at 1:00pm on Sunday and is completed by Saturday morning.

 

Kitchen Staff

Minimum Age: 17 years, by Dec. 31, 2018

Assist in the preparation of food for all meals and in the ongoing cleaning of the service area and equipment. You will be directly responsible to the Head Cook or the assigned Assistant Head Cook.

 

Dining Room Staff

Minimum Age: 17 years, by Dec. 31, 2018

Assist in the set-up, service and clean-up of daily camp meals. Specific jobs will be assigned by the Dining Room Coordinator when you arrive.

 

Maintenance Staff

Minimum Age: 17 years, by Dec. 31, 2018

Assist the maintenance crew with ongoing sanitation, grounds keeping and building/repair projects. Carpentry, sanitation or grounds keeping experience helpful but not required.

Step 2 - References

You are required to have three reference forms completed and submitted with your application.

Please submit your application without waiting for your references, but encourage your references to submit the form ASAP.

Step 3 - Interview

Once your application and references are received our Summer Camp Director will contact you directly to set up an interview time.

 

Step 4 - Police Check

It is mandatory for ALL staff and volunteers to provide the results of a Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening dated no earlier than August 30, 2018.
