LIT Participants and Their Relationship with God

Leader In Training participants are expected to be developing their relationship with God and to have a desire to live by the standards set forth in the Bible.

LIT Participants and Their Character

Our standard for all behaviour is taken from the Bible – the word of God. LITs are expected to cooperate with others and respect staff members. LITs will treat everyone at Medeba respectfully and not discourage or harm others with physical, emotional, or verbal abuse.

Any kind of abuse or abusive language is not acceptable (e.g. put-downs are unacceptable). Medeba strives to resolve behavioural problems with LITs promptly and effectively but reserves the right to dismiss a LIT for behavioural problems at the discretion of the Directors. No refund will be made for dismissals due to disciplinary action.

Our standard for all attitudes are to have a positive attitude towards the program. There are many different types of activities and sessions in the LIT program and every LIT will be expected to participate in all aspects of the program.

LIT Participants and Their Lifestyle at Medeba

Personal electronic devices (such as cell phones, handheld game devices, etc) are permitted during LIT, but are only to be used during certain periods during the month as approved by LIT staff. The LIT staff must approve all media before LITs view or listen to it, unless it is produced under a Christian label. Any media should not glorify sin and should be respectful to the rest of the community. LITs must be sensitive to others with the volume of the media played.

Our standard for accommodations is that LITs are responsible to clean their accommodations daily and keep their personal belongings tidy as they are sharing room with others.

Our standard for relationships is that LITs focus on the whole community and are inclusive in their friendships.

Our standard for having a dress code is to be professional in our outfits.

Our standard for curfew is that the LITs are in the HUB main room between 9:30-10pm, and to be in their own cabin between 10:15-10:30pm (to get ready for bed), and between 10:45-11pm to have the lights out. Occasionally earlier curfews may be given if staff detect extra sleep is needed.

Community Life

LIT has 21 participants. Separate accommodations and bathrooms for boys and girls is provided in the Hub cabin and a staff member lives with them. The LITs also have access to a classroom space and a fire pit, the Cinders, for teaching and community living.

General Information

LIT Schedules for Parents

A day by day calendar of LIT events is available to see what is planned for the month of LIT. Parents/guardians will be given these on registration day or can request one to be sent to them ahead of time, or pick up a paper copy on Registration Day. Please contact us if you are interested.

Connecting to your LIT

LITs really enjoy connecting with friends and family, especially because they are here for 4 weeks.

LITs have scheduled times where they can use their devices to check their messages and/or make phone calls.

Visiting

Other than our Open House (July 12, 2025 from 11-4pm) there is no official visitor’s day at Medeba. If parents/ guardians wish to visit LIT 1 or LIT 2s or take them off the property for a break, arrangements can be made with the LIT Director.

LIT Group Picture

LIT group pictures can be ordered prior to camp. These 5" x 7" pictures taken by our camp photographer come in a frame and cost $15 (taxes included). Or you can get a digital copy for $5. Pictures can be paid for when you apply or during registration.

Photo Memories

During the month of LIT, we create a cloud based photo album of pictures of the LITs and their activities. These pictures come from the camp photographer and from the LITs themselves to provide a large assortment.  A link will be emailed out after the program starts.

Spending Money While at Medeba

Spending money is needed for several reasons while at Medeba. We recommend approximately $100 be provided for the month. This will be deposited into a debit account for the LITs so they don't have to handle cash until it is needed. Any remaining money at the end of the stay is returned.

  1. Alpine Store - The camp store offers snacks, souvenirs and Medeba clothing.
  2. Laundry - LITs have the opportunity to do their laundry each week at the local laundromat. The cost for a load of laundry is around $6.00. Participants should bring their own detergent and supplies. Cash will be provided for them out of their tuck account.
  3. One meal at a fast food restaurant - This is to eat out on the way back from the LIT 1 canoe trip. $20 is recommended.

Leaving the Property

LITs may not leave the property without permission and must be accompanied by a staff member.
